We're Back!
I kind of just remembered today that I have a blog. So, I kicked a path through the leggos on the floor to get to the computer room and write a short entry. It's been a BUSY summer! We moved to a new city (and all that entails); Gage turned one (and all that entails); we've traveled almost every weekend (and all that entails); and we've eaten hundreds of peaches, blasted the air conditioner and had a lot of fun in the meantime. I have way too many pictures from this summer to choose from so I'll start with posting this one link. Our new friend/photographer Kate Whitmore photographed Gage last month and we just got the pictures back today. She did a great job! I'll leave you with these and will be writing again soon!

An End of an Era ... Well, Maybe.

At a summer camp way out in Etna, California I decided (at 17 years old) that I would one day go to Auburn University ... even though I'd never set foot in the state of Alabama. Most of the staff at the camp were Auburn students and many of the campers were Auburn bound. I immediately caught the bug and two years later I moved to what would become my home - for much longer than I thought. I finished school in four years (plus a few summers) and then moved to Australia and a few other places for a while before I wised up and married my best friend from Alabama who accepted a job and was placed in Auburn of all places. So then I began my Auburn stint #2 before we were transferred to Birmingham for a while. Six months after we bought a house there we were transferred back to (you can guess it) ... Auburn! Our first child was born here as well as many, many more memories.
Tomorrow we will move to Columbus, Georgia but Auburn will always be home, as I've lived here now longer than I've ever lived anywhere. And if you've gone to Auburn, you know that it becomes part of you. Not in the cheesy cliche kind of way, but it really, really does. As our school creed concludes, "I believe in Auburn and love it."
I love Auburn and am sad we are leaving but #1 we won't be far and #2 I'm not convinced that we'll never be back since for some reason we keep returning! I better close as I have lots of packing to do! Goodbye Auburn ... at least for now.
(Picture is of the AMAZING project Scott built while he was here ... the new Auburn basketball arena. It is really incredible and we can't wait for basketball season to begin. WAR EAGLE!)

Anna's Engaged!

Anna's Engaged! Ok, well she's officially been engaged for a couple of months but we celebrated their upcoming marriage this weekend in Nashville. Scott and I dropped off Bogie and Gage at their grandparents' house then headed (just the two of us!) to Nashville for a short trip ... we were there for a total of 19 hours. But we loved spending time with our precious friends.

My First Mother's Day
Wednesday, May 5, 2010

Lately I've been overwhelmed at how blessed I am. I am loving this season of life and of motherhood. I am loving chasing Gage around the house to keep him from teething on dog toys. I am loving that he laughs when I imitate his little sounds. I love the delight on his face when Scott walks in the door from work. I love the look of pride he gets when he holds onto the coffee table without my support. And I love that he crawls off to play with the "big boys" in our Bible study but always looks back to make sure I'm still in the room. I am overwhelmed that God chose to bless me first as a wife and now as a Mom.
"Praise God for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness." - Psalm 150:2
